Is it Luck or is it Skill?

The goal of this simulation is to explore the role of luck versus skill/hardwork when it comes to making it to the NHL. We can define luck as the things a player can’t control (coach’s decision, politics, injuries, etc.) and skill as the thing they can control (talent, contribution when on the ice, physical conditioning, etc). We assume that there are approximately 620620 players in the NHL every given year (2020 players with 3131 teams) and approximately 1000010000 players who are trying to make it every year from all other professional leagues.
