Olivier Chabot – My Story

Hey, my name is Olivier Chabot and I graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Mathematics while taking physics courses upon completing my undergrad. I also graduated from la Faculté d’éducation, (yes, I am bilingual), at the University of Ottawa with the intention of becoming a math and physics teacher. I am curently completing my Master’s in Statistics at Carleton University. In terms of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to teach math and physics over a period of 16 weeks, to be a supply teacher for all ages and subjects, and to be a teacher’s assistant at Carleton University for mathematics and statistics.

Since 2013, tutored students of all ages for over 1000 hours and counting. I distinguish myself as an educator by the relationships I build with my students. Often enough, it is not the cognitive abilities that impair the student’s academic performance, but rather his environment and attitude towards learning. I am simply the person who guides the student in making their own realisations by providing the proper examples, questions, study habits, or mindset. My goal is to get my students to be independent learners as fast as possible. I am only a stepping stone to bridge the gap often present.

Lastly, my passion for the subjects I teach is contagious. Don’t worry, it’s not a bad thing to love math, stats, or physics!
