Monthly Two Cents
By signing up to the Monthly Two Cents you can expect to receive a monthly email about what I’ve been up to and some things I’ve found interesting that you might enjoy. I deleted all my social media accounts so this is the best way to follow my work. Email has been around for decades while specific social media platforms come and go. I decided to focus my efforts on a technology that is here to stay.
Why is it called Two Cents?
According to Wikipedia, “the expression is used to preface a tentative statement of one’s opinion. By deprecating the opinion to follow—suggesting its value is only two cents, a very small amount—the user of the phrase, showing politeness and humility, hopes to lessen the impact of a possibly contentious statement.” The idea behind the two cents is that I don’t imply that you’ll necessarily benefit from the things that benefited me. I humbly distill the top 5 ideas or tools I’ve encountered in the last month with the hope that one or two catch your eye.
Why is it only sent once a month?
The idea behind a monthly newsletter is to reduce the amount of noise in my content. Posting daily on social media is mostly noise. The monthly email attempts to capture important things while leaving out the distracting fluff. I hope that 12 emails per year strikes the right balance for most people including myself. I want readers to look forward to receiving the newsletter.
